put me together

"After the very strong debut of "Rumors Of My Death", Jerry Chapman
returns with "Put Me Together" that takes a confident step forward working
more fully realized artistic vision, interesting production flourishes and,
most importantly, quality songs that beg and hold up to repeated listens.
Musically, it's a rootsy rock 'n
pop affair. Reminding me of a marriage of, say, Matthew Sweet
(Chapman's knows his way around massively hooky guitar melodies) and
John Hiatt. Come to think of it the mini-supergroup, The Thorns
is evoked here. Others I'd say this excellent
material reminds me of would be Barenaked Ladies, Tom Petty,
Pete Yorn, Jars Of Clay, Wilco, Jason Mraz and
James McMurtry. It's all good. Very, very good.
And Extremely Highly Recommended!" |

rumors of my death
Reviewer:
Ed Bumgardner, Winston-Salem Journal
The entire package is a wondrous blend of Everyman accessibility
and contemporary smarts, a disc that belongs in the international
mainstream. It’s that good.” |

Wondrous? Inspiring? Dynamic? These aren’t words you’d expect to hear to
describe a double CD (dare we say it, “concept album”) about death. But
that’s precisely what critics are saying about the latest release from
Winston-Salem, NC’s Jerry Chapman.
| “He already sounds famous. If you heard one of his songs over the
radio right now, you'd just assume he was an established, accomplished rock
artist... This is substance. This CD is something real.” — Jennifer Layton, Indie-Music.com |

After graduating from Furman University, Jerry toured extensively
throughout the southeast with Urban Edge &
Two Pound Planet. He followed up on their success by forming Life
in General, who have gone on to perform over 1,500 shows in the U.S. and
Australia. In 2000, Jerry released his debut solo CD, Making God Laugh,
to brisk sales and rave reviews. He put together an all-star line-up of
musicians and hit the road as Jerry Chapman and His Evil Herbivores.
His latest effort finds him exploring mortality from a spiritual and
deeply personal perspective.
“Jerry Chapman writes remarkable songs... and performs them with the
erratic energy of a runaway train.”
— Corey Moss, Illinois Entertainer |

Jerry’s live performances feature bounce-around energy, tight harmonies
and arena-rock bravado — not exactly what you’d expect from a guy fascinated
with death. But then again, Jerry is no ordinary rocker.
Pick up Rumors of my Death and prepare to step into the light!
Album features guest appearances by Claire Holley (Yep Roc Records)
and Mark Kano (Athenaeum).

making god laugh
Jerry's solo debut, recorded in the fall of 1999. Acoustic
rock played by one guy over a series of fall days. Fairly
rockin' songs about God, girls and wine.
Great
Album
Reviewer: Mike Heeley
Jerry did a fantabulous job writing and covering songs for this
album. One of 2000's best CDs. It is a wonderful album recorded by
a wonderful musician (and a hell of a guy). You should buy
it...Heck, buy two and give one to a friend. |
